On 11 March 2020, Change Makers of the World organized Educate a Child for Change, a program for children in Kabul who have grown up surrounded by war and violence.
The program focused on a simple subject: peace. Through activities and discussions, the children were encouraged to share what peace means to them and the kind of future they want for themselves and their country.
The children participated actively and shared messages for people in Afghanistan and around the world. Their messages showed something that is often missing from conversations about war and peace: the voices of the children who live with its consequences.
The program was built around the belief that children need more than protection from violence. They also need opportunities to learn, express themselves, build relationships with others, and believe that their future can be different from the conflict they have experienced.
Change Makers of the World will also share a video featuring some of the messages the children prepared during the program.
Children need peace, and their voices should be part of building it.
