Fighting for Afghan Girls’ Education

On 1 February 2025, Change Makers of the World held an online meeting with Afghan girls participating in our educational programs across Afghanistan.

Reza Hussaini, executive team member of Change Makers of the World, joined the meeting from the United States to speak directly with students. The discussion provided an opportunity to hear about their education, ambitions, and the challenges they face, including financial difficulties, limited internet access, and concerns about their safety.

The meeting also focused on the future of our educational programs and new opportunities we are working to provide for students.

Change Makers of the World currently provides Afghan girls with online and in-person learning opportunities, including language courses in English, Italian, and German, academic subjects such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry, and workshops designed to help students prepare for scholarships and future educational opportunities.

The Afghan Girls Tech Academy

One of our current initiatives is The Afghan Girls Tech Academy, a long-term program providing Afghan girls with training in coding and computer science.

Dozens of girls are participating in the program. The initial training runs for six months as part of a program planned to continue for at least a year and a half.

Beyond learning technology, the program aims to help students develop skills that can eventually support access to remote and online employment. With educational and employment opportunities for women severely restricted inside Afghanistan, digital skills can provide another path for girls to learn, work, and become more independent.

Students also participate in empowerment activities focused on confidence, leadership, stress management, and planning for their futures.

Expanding Educational Opportunities

We are working to expand these programs and reach more students across Afghanistan. This includes seeking potential collaborations with educational and technology platforms and organizations that could provide additional learning resources and opportunities for Afghan girls.

During the meeting, students shared what the classes have meant for them and what they hope to achieve in the future. Their feedback will continue to help us shape our programs around their needs.

Because of security concerns, we cannot publicly announce or document every class we organize. Some activities and opportunities are communicated privately to students, and identifying information in photographs and reports is concealed when necessary.

Despite these limitations, our classes continue both online and in person across Afghanistan.
